This week, This Hitchin Mummy was lucky enough to check out the brand new trampoline park in Welwyn Garden City!
Here’s the lowdown on this fantastic new indoor sporting venue in Hertfordshire, just in time for those cold winter days…
Better Extreme is located at Goslings Sports Centre in Welwyn Garden City and is the latest addition as part of the £1.6 million upgrade to the facility.
This will be Welwyn Garden City’s first trampoline park. At 1600 square metres and with foam pits, extreme dodgeball area, basketball, battle beam, fidget ladder, slack-line and performance walls on offer it will certain compete with neighbouring trampoline parks in St Albans, Stevenage and Luton.
Something for everyone?
Better Extreme say their facilities have something to offer for all ages. I visited with my Mum (sorry for the pic Mum) and my children aged 2 and 3 – we all had a fab time, so I guess they’re right!
Unlike some of their competitors, anyone aged 18 months and over can use the park during session times. (Under 8s need to be accompanied by an adult.)
This is made possible due to the permanent under 5s area. You no longer have to negotiate rubbish session times around naps and lunch or decide whether to take your pre-schooler or older child with you!
At Better Extreme there is a separate area for under 5’s where they can jump, leap into a foam bit (or just use them as building blocks!) without being jumped on by bigger kids. And if they’re feeling a bit braver, they can use the main facilities too!
If you’re not taking part in the fun, there is a viewing area right next to the action. I warn you, however, that if you’re not jumping it can get pretty chilly so you might want to take a layer or two with you! You can, of course, grab a hot drink from the Gosling Sports Centre Café to keep you toasty…
A treat for you…?
Whilst the girls were jumping, I got the chance to get my nails painted from the lovely ladies at Spa Experience who are based just next to the Viewing Area.
Spa Experience offer a range of spa treatments, thermal spa experiences and beauty therapies. If you have older children you can leave to jump, why not get a little pampering yourself at the same time?!
After all that bouncing, we were ready for some grub and I couldn’t write a review without commenting on the food and drink on offer…
The Gosling Sports Centre Café, Coffee Corner, had lots of options to choose from including a children’s lunch box with freshly made sandwiches to order, fruit, crisps and a drink.
For the grown ups there are a range of freshly made salads, sandwiches and paninis as well as hot and cold drinks and cakes.
The recently refurbished cafe was light and spacious and a lovely end to our visit.
Some top tips for your visit
- You must arrive at least 30 minutes before the start of your session to avoid disappointment. You’ll need to complete your session registration, collect your socks and get ready for your session.
- All trampoline park customers must wear Better Extreme branded socks at all times when using the park. These are available to purchase when making your online booking or from reception at the venue. Just remember to bring them with you next time you visit!
- Lockers were not yet installed but will be available by the time the trampoline park is open so make sure you have a £1 or two available.
- However, if you want to grab something to eat or drink from the cafe you’ll need to use your card or phone to pay as it’s a cashless facility.
At the time of writing, Better Extreme is due to open on Saturday 9th December 2017!
