My little family and I were invited along to spend the day at The Galleria in Hatfield. We shopped, we ate and we played. Here’s my review…
The Galleria is home to over 80 shops in an outlet centre in Hatfield. It covers the best of the high street names and more specialised stores including Le Creuset, French Connection, Nike and more…
As well as numerous restaurants and Get Wild! indoor play area, there is also the Odeon Hatfield which runs a Kids Club on the weekend and during the holidays.
First stop was Clarks for some new slippers for the girls.
We regularly visit the Clarks outlet for everything from trainers to school shoes to a Paw Patrol brolly! There are good discounts on all items and you can still get your little people’s feet measured and shoes fitted as in a normal Clarks store.
We were also on the hunt for pyjamas for my oldest daughter. We visited Gap and M&S without any luck before visiting Choice Discount. Choice Discount sells clothing brands (predominantly Next) with a discount of up to 70%. Within minutes we had selected three pairs of pyjamas featuring My Little Pony, Olaf and Elsa and Anna and I had one happy 3 year old.
As ever food is very important to my family and I – we love eating out together and were pleased with how many options there were for us at The Galleria.
At the time of writing you could chose from:
- Bella Italia
- Bissy’s Pretzels
- Burger King
- Cafe Giardino
- Caffe Nero
- Costa Coffee
- Frankie & Bennie’s
- Pizza Express
- Shake ‘A’ Shake
- The Real China
There really is a great selection to choose from.
Though we love a cheeky Nandos, my youngest isn’t the biggest meat fan at the moment so we went to Harvester as it offered something for everyone.
My husband hadn’t been to a Harvester before (crazy, I know!) and he was impressed that all main meals included a trip to the salad bar. We all had a bowl of salad – although Matilda’s largely consisted of raisins – and it was great for the girls to pick their favourite salad items.
The main meals were substantial, tasty and great value too. There were excellent entertainment packs for the girls and the service was friendly and efficient – exactly what we need when trying to manage our two monkeys in a restaurant.
Refreshed, it was time to go and play…
Get Wild! is an indoor play area in the heart of The Galleria and the perfect treat to end a family day out.
It’s not your regular soft play – it’s not that soft for a start… More like a giant indoor tree house with several access points and then a network of walkways, rope walks and tunnels to explore plus a series of fantastic slides.
The play equipment is aimed at children aged 1-12 years old (adults can squeeze in at their own risk when chasing their toddlers about!). There is also a small area for under 3s.
There’s something for grown ups too… there are lots of benches around the play area plus refreshments for sale from Costa Coffee and Bissy’s Pretzels. Although parents must be present while their children are playing, the play area is very well supervised by staff so you really CAN relax and enjoy your coffee.
Even more fun…
The Galleria run a kids club called The Little Explorer Club and follow Murray the Monkey on his travels. You can sign up online and receive:
- A Little Explorers passport to get stamped as you follow Murray on his travels to different countries
- Activity sheets for all of the places that Murray visits
- An activity folder to keep everything in
- A box of colouring pencils
The Galleria also features SEGA Prize Zone. This new family-friendly amusement arcade features a range of machines. Each time you play you have the opportunity to collect points which can be redeemed for prizes at the desk located in the amusement centre.
The Galleria can be reached from Junctions 3 or 4 of the A1(M). Parking is plentiful but chargeable 7 days a week.
Parent and Baby Changing facilities are available on both floors of the shopping centre.
