Hans Christian Andersen’s well known tale, The Ugly Duckling was brought to life by tutti frutti this November in the wonderful Broadway Theatre in Letchworth Garden City.

The last time I visited the Broadway Theatre with my daughters was for Dinosaur World last Summer and I was excited to return for a show with a very different feel.

We all know the classic children’s tale of the poor little duckling who is different from the rest. His siblings reject him and he goes off on an adventure to find somewhere he fits in…

This talented cast of three brought this story magically to life over the course of an hour. The set was simple but effective, full of ingenious touches to move the audience through each season. Glitter, feathers and a few fairy lights helped the story along too.

My two girls aged 2 and 3 were utterly glued for the whole show. Even without the dinosaurs.

Broadway Theatre is perfectly set up for a production like this. Easy parking opposite, booster seats for the little monkeys and lots of room in front of the seats for little legs to stretch out if needed!

To round off our evening, a trip to my favourite restaurant in Letchworth – Artista. Lovely food for the whole family, great service and a fantastic price too.

A fantastic family evening out of theatre and food. We can’t for Dear Santa this December so we can go back!
