Review: Toddle and Twirl – JS Dance Academy

toddle and twirl hitchin

This Hitchin Mummy went to Toddle and Twirl at JS Dance Academy and here’s how it went…

Although definitely not a natural dancer, I did ballet, tap and modern classes as a child.

I’ve been looking for a dance class for a while that I could take both my girls to – at 18 months and 3 years it hasn’t been easy. This is partly because I wasn’t looking for a ballet class – my children just love to dance in their own “unique” way…

Toddle and Twirl is run by Jo Summerfield of JS Dance Academy on Bury Mead Way. It’s a drop in class which was fantastic for us – naps for my youngest are still all over the place so I’m never quite sure what we can do.

Classes follow a loose structure with warm up, action songs, instruments and free play time. The class is not too formal which is great given the age of the participants. Some children take part more than others in the activities but they all seem to really enjoy themselves (as did I!).

It’s also incredibly friendly – not only thanks to the lovely Jo, but my daughters and I have also been made to feel so welcome by the regular members. There’s a great mix of boys and girls from 18 months – 4 years old who just love to move! No prima donnas here.

If you’re looking for something to do on a Monday afternoon, I’d recommend checking the class out – just one visit and I’ve become a regular (when nap time allows). Hope to see you there!
